Joseph King McMahon Petroleum Engineering Scholarship

Statement of Purpose
Dear Scholarship Applicant:
The Joseph King McMahon Petroleum Engineering Scholarship was established in 2006. The purpose of the
scholarship is to aid students who are interested in pursuing the study of petroleum engineering. Students should
demonstrate a willingness and ability to maintain a high level of academic achievement along with leadership
and involvement within their college and the community. It is hoped that the recipient of this scholarship will
someday be in a position to give back to the petroleum industry and encourage others to pursue this field. This
is what Joseph King McMahon did during a lifetime in the petroleum industry. We wish you success.

Texas Alliance of Energy Producers

Criteria:
1) Must be a U.S. citizen.
2) Must be majoring in Petroleum Engineering (declared major).
3) Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better (current official transcript required).
4) Must be classified as a sophomore or higher when completing application. The scholarship shall be used only
for an undergraduate degree in petroleum engineering.
5) Must be enrolled as a full time student (at least 15 hours) for the duration of the scholarship (Fall 2020).
6) Must demonstrate leadership abilities and involvement in student and community organizations.
7) Must submit application with requested attachments postmarked by March 1, 2020.

Amount of scholarship: $3,000
1) If applicant drops out of school during the time period refunds are permitted, the scholarship award will be
returned to the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
2) Scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university for the fall semester 2020.

How recipient is chosen:
1) The Texas Alliance of Energy Producers and the McMahon family will review the submitted applications and
make the final selection.
2) Applicant will be notified of his or her selection and arrangements made for their presence at the Texas Alliance
of Energy Producers Annual Meeting on April 29, 2020 for acceptance (applicant’s expense to be provided).

The Chairman Tommy Taylor Memorial Scholarship

Statement of Purpose
Dear Scholarship Applicant:
The Chairman Tommy Taylor Memorial Scholarship was established in 2015 to honor the legacy of Mr. Tommy
Taylor. Mr. Taylor served as Chairman of the Board of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers from 2010 to
2012, and his accomplishments were many. He earned a degree from the University of Texas at Austin in
Petroleum Land Management, and he bought and sold oil and gas properties throughout Texas and the nation.
The Chairman Tommy Taylor Memorial Scholarship will be presented to a deserving high school senior on
April 3, 2019 at the Alliance Expo and Annual Meeting Luncheon (Irving, Texas). All travel expenses of the
scholarship recipient will be paid by the Texas Alliance.
The scholarship will be an ongoing tribute to Mr. Taylor and his commitment to the industry that he loved and
to the Texas Alliance.

Criteria:
1 Must be majoring in an energy related field of study (declared major).
2) Must be enrolled as a full time (at least 12 hours) college student for the following Fall semester.
3) Must demonstrate leadership abilities and involvement in student and community
organizations.
4) Must submit application with requested attachments no later than March 1, 2020.


Amount of scholarship: $2,500:
1) Scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university.

How recipient is chosen:
1) The Texas Alliance of Energy Producers Scholarship Committee will review the submitted applications
and make the final selection.
2) Applicant will be notified of his or her selection and arrangements made for their presence at
the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers Annual Meeting Luncheon on April 29, 2020 for acceptance
(applicant’s expense to Wichita Falls, TX for this event will be provided).
