Joseph King McMahon Petroleum Engineering Scholarship

Statement of Purpose
Dear Scholarship Applicant:
The Joseph King McMahon Petroleum Engineering Scholarship was established in 2006. The purpose of the
scholarship is to aid students who are interested in pursuing the study of petroleum engineering. Students should
demonstrate a willingness and ability to maintain a high level of academic achievement along with leadership
and involvement within their college and the community. It is hoped that the recipient of this scholarship will
someday be in a position to give back to the petroleum industry and encourage others to pursue this field. This
is what Joseph King McMahon did during a lifetime in the petroleum industry. We wish you success.
Cordially,
The Children of Joseph King McMahon

2020 McMahon Scholarship Recipient: Joe Lindemann

My name is Joe Lindemann, I am from the upper Midwest, and I study petroleum engineering at the University of North Dakota. My dream of working in the oil industry began while growing up during the boom in western North Dakota. That dream began to take shape in the Bakken last summer where I had the opportunity to work with an operator on increasing efficiency in their drilling process. In this time when opportunities are especially limited, it is reassuring that the industry is still finding ways to support students. My sincerest thanks to both the McMahon family and the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers for this honor which will support me as I complete my final year of school.
